Nissan verbindt zich tot en met 2025/2026 aan de Formule E

Terwijl diverse autofabrikanten twijfelen over hun deelname aan de Formule E en Audi en BMW al aangekondigd hebben af te haken, doet Nissan het tegenovergestelde. De Japanse automerk heeft zich in ieder geval tot en met het seizoen 2025/2026 aan de elektrische raceklasse verbonden en maakt zodoende ook de introductie van de Gen3-auto's in het seizoen 2022/2023 mee.

Nissan voegt zich bij Mahindra en DS Automobiles, die reeds uitgesproken hadden in de Formule E actief te blijven. "De visie van Nissan gaat verder dan een simpele vorm van transport", aldus Nissan-directeur Ashwani Gupta. "Ons doel is elektrische voertuigen te ontwerpen en bouwen die de wijze waarop gemeenschappen met elkaar in contact staan veranderen en ons allemaal inspireren richting een duurzame maatschappij. De Formule E helpt ons daarbij."

Olivier en Gregory Driot, teambazen van Nissan e.dams, voegen daar in een gezamenlijke reactie aan toe: "De toewijding van Nissan aan de Formule E toont de kracht van deze elektrische raceklasse en de jacht op meer succes in de volgende fase van deze tak van autosport. De nieuwe Gen3-auto's zullen sneller en krachtiger zijn. Deze constante evolutie van de performance in de Formule E is geweldig voor de fans en de sport."
