Vandoorne moet pole inleveren en start achteraan

Stoffel Vandoorne heeft niet lang kunnen genieten van zijn poleposition in Valencia. De wedstrijdleiding heeft zijn eerste plek afgepakt na een fout van Mercedes in de administratie.

Het is onreglementair als "een band die op de auto is gemonteerd, niet overeenkomt met een van de banden die in het technisch paspoort zijn aangegeven”, aldus één van de stewards over het bandenreglement.

Vandoorne start de wedstrijd nu achteraan en ziet zijn kansen voor de zege in één klap verdwijnen. Felix da Costa mag straks vooraan beginnen. De Vries schuift op naar de zevende positie en Frijns naar de vijftiende. De race start om 15.04.
