Maserati kondigt toetreding tot Formule E aan voor 2023

Maserati keert volgend jaar in officiële hoedanigheid terug in de autosport. Het Italiaanse merk stapt in de Formule E. Maserati was begin dit millennium met de MC12 in de GT1-klasse voor het laatst actief in de racerij. De autofabrikant maakt in 2023 een rentree en heeft daarvoor de Formule E uitgekozen, in verband met de lancering van de elektrisch aangedreven Folgore-lijn.

Het is nog niet duidelijk of Maserati een eigen fabrieksteam aan de start zal brengen in de Formule E of de handen ineen slaat met een van de bestaande renstallen. Directeur Davide Grasso: "Als merk zijn we trots om terug te keren waar we thuis horen, als hoofdrolspelers in de racewereld. In de wedloop richting meer performance, meer luxe en meer innovatie is Folgore onweerstaanbaar en vertegenwoordigt het de puurste vorm van expressie voor Maserati."

"Dat is waarom we besloten hebben om in de Formule E onze rentree in de autosport te maken, om onze klanten rechtstreeks te ontmoeten in het centrum van diverse grote steden over de hele wereld en om de drietand (het logo van Maserati, red.) de toekomst in te leiden", aldus Grasso.

De nieuwbakken FIA-president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is in zijn nopjes met de komst van Maserati in de Formule E. "Dat een iconisch automerk als Maserati, met een trots en succesvol erfgoed in de racerij, zich aan deze serie verbindt, is een bewijs van het overweldigende vertrouwen in de Formule E richting het volgende tijdperk voor deze klasse. De nieuwe Gen3-eenzitter zal het neusje van de zalm op gebied van duurzaamheid, technologie en performance zijn."

Ik heb marketing gestudeerd en volg mij snappen ze het niet helemaal daar bij Maserati. Er nemem niet voor niets andere fabrikanten afscheid van de FE. Er kijkt geen hond naar want het doet pijn aan je ogen en door het gebrek aan diversificatie in de FE kan je je onmogelijk onderscheiden van concurrenten. Daarnaast gaat niemand naar de Maserati dealer om een zo groen mogelijke auto te kopen.
Maar goed, succes ermee Maserati!

  NoBullshit@ ik bewonder je achtergrond, een prachtig en divers vak, maar mijns inziens zijn de tv cijfers van FE zo slecht nog niet. In vergelijking met F1 valt alles in het niets uiteraard.
  
  Maserati is onder FIAT zwaar onderbelicht gebleven de laatste jaren... ik denk dat Stellantis een strategie moet kiezen voor dit merk die 180 graden draait, met het vooruitzicht op de EU regels van 2030.
