Giovinazzi over thuisrace in Rome: "Het wordt een geweldig gevoel"

Antonio Giovinazzi reed op Monza zijn thuisrace in de Formule 1, maar scheuren door de hoofdstad van Italië geeft volgens de coureur met nummer #99 pas echt een kick.

"Het wordt een geweldig gevoel", zei de 28-jarige Italiaan. “We hebben het over Rome, de hoofdstad van Italië, en de Eeuwige Stad. Ik krijg er rillingen van; het wordt absoluut een unieke ervaring om door deze straten te racen."

"Ik kan echt niet wachten om daar te komen met alle fans die ons steunen en aanmoedigen, niet alleen in Rome, maar ook in de andere steden die we nog moeten bezoeken."

De voormalig Alfa Romeo-coureur kijkt vooral uit om de toeschouwers uit eigen land te verwelkomen. "Italiaanse fans hebben me altijd gesteund waar ik ook heb geracet, ik heb altijd hun liefde en waardering gevoeld en ik kan niet wachten om veel mensen uit heel Italië te zien komen om hun steun te betuigen."

"Ik wil echt iets teruggeven aan mijn supporters en fanclub op de tribunes, een geweldige show neerzetten en ze geweldige gevoelens en emoties geven."

Het was een moeilijke start van het seizoen bij Dragon/Penske Autosport voor Giovinazzi, die na drie races onderaan in het coureurskampioenschap staat. "Mijn eerste races in de Formule E zijn erg belangrijk geweest om alles over dit kampioenschap te leren", zei hij filosofisch. "Naarmate de tijd verstrijkt, worden mijn prestaties beter en ben ik op weg om mijn ervaring verder te vergroten."

De E-Prix van Rome staat volgende week op het programma in het weekend van 9-10 april.
