Formule E spectaculairder in 2023 door nieuwe regels

De Formule E ondergaat in 2023 een metamorfose. Het was langer bekend dat teams en coureurs met een nieuwe en vooral krachtige elektrische openwieler gaan rijden, de zogeheten Gen3. Dit weekend heeft de organisatie ook het reglement voor 2023 gepresenteerd met zeer opmerkelijke veranderingen.

Zo verdwijnt de tijdslimiet voor een race. Dit was 45 minuten plus een ronde. Vanaf het volgende en negende seizoen wordt een raceafstand bepaald door een hoeveel rondes. Neutralisaties van het racen door Safety Car en Full Course Yellow worden gecompenseerd door extra ronden in plaats van tijd.

Ook wordt gaandeweg 2023 een verplichre pitstop geïntroduceerd om de auto voor 4 kWh op te laden tijdens een E-Prix, genaamd Attack Charge. Deze elektrische bijtankfunctie gebeurt binnen 30 seconden. Door deze oplaadmogelijkheden worden de twee bestaande Attack Modes ontgrendeld waarbij rijders tijdelijk meer vermogen kunnen gebruiken later in de race. Wedstrijden zonder Attack Charge behouden twee Attack Mode-periodes zoals voorgaande seizoenen.

Fan Boost wordt afgeschaft. Fans konden coureurs via de officiële Formule E-app -en website hun favoriet een duwtje in de rug geven met extra vermogen. De populairste coureurs van de race konden de extra kWh op het einde van een E-Prix inzetten.

Net als in de Formule 1 geeft de Formule E nieuwelingen de kans om een FE-wagen aan de tand te voelen. Elk team is twee keer per seizoen verplicht om een rookie te laten instappen tijdens een vrije training.

Jamie Reigle, CEO, Formula E is enthousiast over de nieuwe regels en zei: “Onze bijgewerkte sportieve reglementen zijn het bewijs van de voortdurende evolutie en positieve impact van het ABB FIA Formula E Championship voor coureurs, teams, partners en fans in de EV-consumentenwereld. De combinatie van sportieve verbeteringen, een stapsgewijze verandering in autoprestaties, geavanceerde batterijtechnologie en de innovatie van Attack Charge zal ons racen competitiever en vermakelijker maken, terwijl het de toekomst voor EV-ontwikkeling laat zien. Dit is de kern van wat de Formule E wilde bereiken en we kijken ernaar uit om de nieuwe generatie tot leven te zien komen in seizoen 9."

Het volgende Formule E-kampioenschap start in het weekend van 14 januari in Mexico.

Zolang ze op die belachelijke parkings ( om het zo te zeggen ) blijven rijden is het mijn gedacht minder aantrekkelijk om naar te kijken .

Hwt was niks, het is niks en het wordt niks....

Maar gelukkig hoef ik er niet naar te kijken en dat doe ik dus ook niet meer.
Paar keer het voordeel van de twijfel gegeven maar elke keer weer teleurgesteld de tv uitgezet.

So 4 kWh laden, dat is met zo'n 250kW verbruik maar liefst 90 seconden extra gassen, dat wordt spectaculair. Even serieus: die 30 seconden ga je dus nooit terugwinnen, vandaar dat ze het gaan verplichten.
