Porsche verlengt deelname en blijft tot in ieder geval eind 2026 op Formule E grid

Porsche blijft langer in de Formule E racen. Het Duitse automerk tekende in 2019 een contract voor vijf jaar, wat betekende dat de fabrikant tot eind 2024 in de elektrische raceklasse aanwezig zou zijn. De plannen zijn nu verlengd, want Porsche maakt bekend dat het tot in ieder geval eind 2026 aan het Formule E-kampioenschap zal deelnemen.

Het prestigieuze Duitse automerk Porsche heeft de knop doorgehakt. Vorig jaar leek de fabrikant in een vergevorderde fase te zitten om vanaf 2026 motoren aan Red Bull te leveren, maar die plannen vielen uiteindelijk in het water. Met haar nieuwe plannen zal Porsche langer in de Formule E blijven racen, de race-categorie waar het dit seizoen al vier overwinningen wist te behalen.

Porsche-topman Michael Steiner zei dat de elektrische renstal 'ernaar uitkijkt om een actieve rol te spelen in het vormgeven van een succesvolle toekomst van de Formule E.' "De Formule E blijft de meest competitieve omgeving om de ontwikkeling van high-performance voertuigen met een focus op milieuvriendelijkheid en energie-efficiëntie te versnellen."

Volgens mij was Porsche de enige fabrikant die nog niet had getekent voor de 2de helft van Gen3 (Evo kit). Zou dan ook raar zijn als je het chassis al hebt gekocht en goede hardware hebt gebouwt als aandrijving om dan vlotter te stoppen dan dat deze kostige spullen inzetbaar zijn.

Als de Gen4 regels hen niet bevalt zijn ze net zo snel weg. Nu hebben ze een stoel om die regels proberen te sturen.

Blijft eeuwig jammer dat Porsche niet door heeft gezet met hun F1 plannen. Er waren best nog andere opties dan Red Bull, en ze hadden kunnen weten dat RBR nooit hun "DNA" zouden aanpassen om een motorleverancier binnrn te halen, zeker als ze zelf al een programma op touw hadden.

En waarom hadden ze niet met een veel lagere financiele investering dezelfde constructie kunnen bedenken zoals die er nu is met RBR en Ford.

  Is het zonde? Ik bedoel ook het budget van de VW groep is een keer op en door slechts 1 merk toe te staan in F1 ipv 2... hebben gelukkig nog geel wat Porsche coureurs een stoeltje elders in de racerij.
  
  In WEC/Imsa zon 12 stoeltjes alleen al. FE dus ook 4 (eigenlijk 3 gezien 1 stoeltje van Andretti volgens mij opgeist is door Porsche en dus dan andere vrije keuze) en het gt programma wordt bij Porsche dus niet stopgezet zoals bij Audi...
  
  De winst voor F1 was kleiner als Porsche ook toetreed dan het verlies voor de autosport in het algemeen denk ik.
