Van der Drift laat goede indruk achter bij Trident Racing

Chris van der Drift is weer een stapje dichter bij een debuut in de GP2-serie. De 21-jarige coureur met zowel de Nederlandse als de Nieuw-Zeelandse nationaliteit testte vorige week voor Trident Racing en teambaas Alessandro Alunni Bravi was zeer onder de indruk. Ook al konden we maar een paar dagen met Chris testen, ik denk dat hij alles in zich heeft om een toonaangevende coureur voor Trident Racing te worden, aldus Bravi.

De teambaas vervolgt: Iedereen van het team was onder de indruk van de geweldige feedback die Chris gaf. Ik hoop dat ik op hem kan rekenen voor de GP2 Asia-serie en het nieuwe seizoen in de reguliere GP2. En ik hoop dat hij de steun krijgt die nodig is om een lange, succesvolle en belangrijke carrière te beginnen.

Chris deed me in de verte denken aan Pastor Maldonado die dit jaar voor ons reed. Hij paste zich ook zo makkelijk aan een onbekende auto aan. En ook de manier van meteen competitieve rondjes rijden hebben wij eerder gezien. Chris voegt daar echter een analytische aanpak van de technische kant van deze sport aan toe. Hij is niet alleen snel op de baan, maar hij is ook zeer nuttig voor de afstelling en de ontwikkeling van de auto.
