Michael Herck bestraft na kwalificatie, Jerome D'Ambrosio krijgt pole

Michael Herck heeft zijn eerste pole position in de GP2 Series alweer moeten inleveren. De Roemeense coureur van DPR zou té snel hebben gereden tijdens gele vlaggen, waardoor hij drie plaatsen terug moet op de grid. De Belg Jerome D'Ambrosio zal de eerste race hierdoor vanaf de pole vertrekken.

Hierdoor start Herck de race als vierde en komt kampioenschapsleider Pastor Maldonado naar de eerste startrij. Oliver Turvey krijgt de derde plaats naast Herck. Verder werd Christian Vietoris voor hetzelfde vergrijp bestraft en valt terug tot de achtste startplaats, wat Romain Grosjean de vijfde stek geeft.

Ook Dani Clos, Alvaro Parente, Max Chilton, Johnny Cecotto, Luca Filippi en Marcus Ericcson zijn met drie plaatsen bestraft. Allen hadden zich echter al buiten de top-tien gekwalificeerd.
