Sam Bird heeft de toeschouwers die het slechte weer in Silverstone vandaag hebben getrotseerd beloond met de snelste tijd in de GP2-training. Op een opdrogende baan was de Brit met een 1:41.763 bijna twee tienden sneller dan kampioenschapleider Romain Grosjean.

Marcus Ericsson, Davide Valesecchi en Luca Filippi completeren de top vijf. Giedo van der Garde kwam door een crash in Stowe niet verder dan een achtste plek. Met een 1:42.794 kwam hij een seconde tekort op de tijd van Bird.
