DAMS contracteert Brits Formule 3-kampioen Felipe Nasr

Felipe Nasr debuteert komend seizoen in de GP2. De 19-jarige Braziliaan veroverde vorig jaar de titel in het Brits Formule 3-kampioenschap en waagt nu de stap naar het voorportaal van de Formule 1. Hij heeft getekend bij DAMS, het team waarmee Romain Grosjean in 2011 kampioen werd. Davide Valsecchi is de teamgenoot van Nasr.

Ik ben dolblij dat we alle details hebben kunnen afronden en dat ik komend jaar in de GP2 race. Na Italië in 2009 en Groot-Brittannië in 2010 en 2011 is het tijd voor een volgend hoofdstuk, in Frankrijk bij DAMS. Met dank aan mijn sponsors, mijn manager Steve Robertson en mijn familie heb ik daar mijn nieuwe plek gevonden om te werken, om mijn rijden te verbeteren en om te groeien als coureur.

Ik heb veel te leren en met een sterke teamgenoot en een goed team ben ik op de juiste plek om de kneepjes van het GP2-vak onder de knie te krijgen. Sommige circuits ken ik nog uit mijn periode in de Formule BMW, maar de meeste banen zijn nieuw voor me. In Groot-Brittannië had ik alles goed voor elkaar en wist ik hoe alles in zijn werk ging, dus het is een hele uitdaging om die veilige omgeving te verlaten, aldus Nasr.
