Glock vooraan bij eerste vrije training

Timo Glock heeft de snelste tijd gereden bij de eerste vrije training van het nieuwe GP2-seizoen. De Duitse coureur van het team van iSport reed op het circuit van Bahrein een 1:42.223 en daarmee was hij ruim zes tienden van een seconde sneller dan de man op de tweede plek, Luca Filippi. Derde werd Alexandre Negrao met een 1:43.021.

Het team van iSport liet in de wintertests zich ook al continu vooraan zien. Teamgenoot van voormalig Formule 1-coureur Glock, Andreas Zuber, kon het hoge tempo van de Duitser nu echter niet bijbenen. De Oostenrijker reed de achtste tijd. Debutant Ho-Pin Tung reed de vijfentwintigste tijd en was ruim 3,4 seconden langzamer dan de snelste man. De coureur met zowel een Nederlands als Chinees paspoort tekende vorige week pas zijn contract bij BCN Competition.
