Carroll en Villa zegevieren op Hungaroring

Adam Carroll heeft de hoofdrace op de Hungaroring gewonnen. De Engelsman bleef Kazuki Nakajima en Andreas Zuber voor. Polesitter en kampioenschapleider Timo Glock werd slechts tiende.

Dat kwam mede door de chaos die er op het circuit nabij Boedapest heerste. Eerst ging Pastor Maldonado op onverklaarbare wijze al volgas rechtuit in bocht 3 en schreef zijn auto af. Even later volgde een nog groter ongeluk bij het opkomen van het rechte stuk. Luca Filippi vloog bij het uitkomen van de bocht haak linksaf de banden in, zijn auto werd teruggelanceerd over de baan en eindigde tegen de pitmuur. Daarbij raakte één van zijn banden Vitaly Petrov, die op zijn beurt tegen Xandi Negrao knalde. De safety car kwam de baan op en daardoor kon Adam Carrol nipt zijn leidende positie behouden na zijn pitstop.

Race 2 was iets minder chaotisch, maar toch waren er veel schuivers en werden veel tikken uitgedeeld. Javier Villa won de race en mag zich onderhand koning van de sprintraces noemen. De Spanjaard zegevierde al drie maal in een sprintrace.

Ho-Pin Tung zal wel gemengde gevoelens overhouden aan dit weekend. In race 1 reed hij ijzersterk en eindigde net buiten de punten als negende. Wel een goede uitgangspositie voor race 2, maar daar kon de BCN Competicion-coureur niet van profiteren. Hij kwam bij de start niet weg en was de eerste uitvaller van de race.
