Noodlot slaat toe bij De Vries, Parry wint

Waar Nyck de Vries zaterdagochtend nog verrassend naar pole reed, viel er in de race weinig te genieten voor de Nederlander. De ART-coureur liet de motor afstaan bij de start en moest de race vanuit de pits aanvangen. Matt Parry profiteerde optimaal en pakte van de tweede plek de zege.

Vanuit de pits kon De Vries weinig uitrichten. Het talent van McLaren begon met een achterstand aan de race en finishte als twintigste. Achter Parry finishte Antonio Fuoco als tweede, de laatste podiumplaats was een prooi voor Jake Dennis. Charles Leclerc, leider in het kampioenschap, kwam niet verder dan een zesde plek en ziet Fuoco dichterbij komen in het kampioenschap.

Morgenvroeg om 09:15 uur begint de sprintrace. De Vries moet op een wonder hopen: de Nederlander start de race als twintigste waardoor punten een haast onmogelijke opgave worden.
