Mazepin op soevereine wijze naar zege op Hungaroring

Op zeer dominante wijze heeft Nikita Mazepin de eerste race van de GP3 Series in Hongarije gewonnen. De tweede plaats was voor Leonardo Pulcini, terwijl polesitter Anthoine Hubert derde werd.

De race voor het podium werd al bij de start beslist. Hubert kwam slecht weg en verloor daar posities aan Mazepin en Pulcini. Een gevecht kwam er daarna niet meer: Mazepin was veel sneller dan zijn achtervolgers, waardoor het verschil aan de finish ruim tien seconden was. Hubert kon intussen het tempo van Pulcini ook maar met moeite bijbenen, maar aanvallen kwamen niet. David Beckmann bekroonde zijn debuut bij Trident met een mooie vierde positie, voor Ryan Tveter en Callum Ilott.

Hubert leidt het kampioenschap nog steeds met 119 punten. Ilott sluit aan met 102, terwijl Mazepin na zijn zege derde staat met 98 punten.
