Bourdais moest in achterveld met 'idioten' racen

Sebastien Bourdais heeft dit weekend een veelbewogen IndyCar-race in Long Beach afgewerkt. De Fransman vocht in de openingsfase van de wedstrijd een mooie strijd uit met Scott Dixon. Een ongunstig getimede neutralisatie zorgde ervoor dat Bourdais ver terugviel. In het achterveld kreeg hij vervolgens te maken met een stel idioten, zoals hij zijn collega's omschrijft.

Bourdais: "De wedstrijdleiding had een paar seconden kunnen wachten met het sluiten van de pitstraat, maar dat deden ze niet en als gevolg daarvan moest ik achteraan aansluiten en met idioten racen. Ik reed naast Charlie Kimball en hij gaf me totaal geen ruimte, hij verboog wat bodywork aan de rechterkant van mijn auto. Daarna was het wel gespeeld. Ik beging de fout door te proberen hem gelijk terug te pakken in bocht 9, maar mijn wagen wilde niet meer insturen."

"Vervolgens wilde Jordan King in de volgende bocht de held uithangen, maar in plaats daarvan schakelde hij ons uit. Daarna kreeg ik met nog een idioot te maken, genaamd Matheus Leist. Ik weet niet wat hij aan het doen was, maar het leek wel alsof hij meermaals samen met mij van de baan wilde vliegen. Hoe dan ook, het was niet meer te redden. Erg teleurstellend. De auto was goed en ik heb een paar keer fijn ingehaald, maar we blijven met lege handen achter."

Die kamikaze actie van Leist was echt compleet geschift, er was echt 0,0 ruimte om überhaupt te denken aan een inhaalpoging.

  Idd, het niveau van het achterveld bij de indycar is triest. Die stelling dat er geen rijders zitten met genoeg talent voor f1 kan wel eens kloppen als je het niveau van het hele veld bekijkt.

Bourdais moet niet lullen, hij heeft er zelf ook jaren over gedaan om een fatsoenlijk coureur te worden.
