Power en Castroneves winnen op Belle Isle in Detroit

Will Power en Helio Castroneves hebben de overwinningen in de twee races op het circuit van Belle Isle in Detroit voor zich opgeëist. Power was in race 1 bestand tegen de druk van Graham Rahal terwijl Castroneves na race 2 in de hekken mocht klimmen om zijn zege te vieren.

Voor Indy 500-winnaar Ryan Hunter-Reay was het een weekend om snel te vergeten. De Amerikaan belandde in de laatste ronde van de eerste race in de bandenstapels. Ook in de tweede race zag hij de finishvlag niet, Hunter-Reay strandde met mechanische problemen.

Takuma Sato kwalificeerde zich voor race 2 op pole position, maar beleefde daar weinig vreugde aan. Eerst tikte Ryan Briscoe hem in de rondte en later duwde Marco Andretti hem van de baan. Sato stond bekend als een wildebras, maar aan deze incidenten kon hij zelf niks doen.
