Bourdais onbedreigd naar zege, Conway gokt en wint

In de straten van Toronto hebben Sebastien Bourdais en Mike Conway ieder een IndyCar-race op hun naam geschreven. Bourdais was in race 1 veruit de sterkste, Conway was in race 2 de slimste. Hij besloot precies op het juiste moment van regenbanden op slicks over te stappen.

De eerste race stond oorspronkelijk voor zaterdag gepland, maar door hevige regenval werd de wedstrijd een dag uitgesteld. Het deerde Bourdais allemaal niks. Ook toen in de eerste ronde Simon Pagenaud in de rondte ging na een tikje en de weg blokkeerde, hield de Fransman zijn hoofd koel. Zijn overwinning kwam geen moment in gevaar.

Conway moest in de slotfase van race 2 afrekenen met Tony Kanaan. Opvallend, aangezien de Braziliaan in de openingsronde zijn neus beschadigde, een pitstop maakte en terug viel naar de 23ste positie. Hij knokte zich naar voren en opende na de herstart voor de laatste vier minuten de aanval op Conway, maar die hield met gemak stand.
