Bertrand Baguette begint aan race-avontuur in IndyCar

Bertrand Baguette zal komend weekend zijn debuut maken in de IndyCar Series. De 'Amerikaanse Formule 1' is aangekomenop het Barber Motorsports Park waar alweer de derde race van het seizoen zal worden verreden.

Baguette tekende twee weken geleden een contract bij Conquest Racing voor de resterende vijftien races van het IndyCar-seizoen en heeft daar erg veel zin in. Komend weekend staat dus zijn debuut op het programma. "Ik rijd niet op onbekend terrein", vertelde de Belg. "Vorige week heb ik nog 66 rondjes kunnen rijden op het circuit waar veel snelle bochten in zitten. Ik denk dat inhalen, helaas, niet gemakkelijk zal gaan worden."

"In vergelijking met de auto's uit Europese raceklassen zijn de IndyCar-bolides veel zwaarder en breder. Fysiek wordt het ook erg zwaar, omdat er geen stuurbekrachtiging op de auto's zit en de races hier langer duren dan dat ik gewend ben. Een plaats in de top tien zou voor mij een heel goed debuut betekenen, maar dat is erg lastig in deze zeer competitieve klasse waar 25 coureurs strijden om de beste plaatsen."
