Will Power blijft dominant en pakt pole op Barber Park

Will Power blijft dominant in de IndyCar Series. Nadat de Australiër al de eerste twee races op zijn naam schreef, pakte Power vandaag voor de tweede achtereenvolgende keer de pole position. Op het Barber Motorsports Park was Power ruim vijf tienden sneller dan Mike Conway.

Power kwam wederom makkelijk door de groepsfase heen met ruim een tiende voorsprong op Takuma Sato. Doordat Power zo makkelijk door die groepsfase heen kwam had de Australiër een setje banden gespaard voor de Fast Six. Hierin was Power dominant en pakte met een 1:10.135 en pole position voor de race op het Barber Motorsports Park.

Mike Conway had net als Power een vers setje banden over en reed naar zijn beste startpositie ooit. De coureur van Dreyer & Reinbold kwam een halve seconde tekort op de tijd van Power, maar bleef Helio Castroneves nog enkele duizendsten voor. Marco Andretti reed naar de vierde startpositie, Scott Dixon eindigde als vijfde, terwijl Takuma Sato zijn beste resultaat boekte met een zesde startpositie.

Bertrand Baguette, de Belg die deze race zijn IndyCar-debuut maakt, zal de race vanaf de 25e en laatste positie starten.
