Aero kits voor superspeedways aangepast

De IndyCar-organisatie heeft ingegrepen naar aanleiding van de vele crashes in de aanloop naar de Indy 500. Op de Indianapolis Motor Speedway vlogen meerdere auto's over de kop. Daarop is besloten om het bodywork voor de zogenaamde superspeedways aan te passen.

Honda en Chevrolet hebben de opdracht gekregen om een closure panels bij het bodywork rondom de achterwielen te implementeren in de aero kits voor de snelle ovals. De wijzigingen zijn komend weekend op de Texas Motor Speedway voor het eerst van kracht.

Will Phillips, vice-president technologie bij de IndyCar: "Dit is in samenspraak met Chevrolet en Honda tot stand gekomen. Ze werken er al aan sinds de kwalificatie voor de Indy 500. Deze closure panels zorgen ervoor dat er geen lucht door de rear wheel guards kan stromen."
