Ryan Briscoe op pole in Texas, Penske en Ganassi verdelen top-vijf

Ryan Briscoe heeft de pole position voor de IndyCar-race in Texas veroverd. De Australiër bleef slechts enkele duizendsten voor op Dario Franchitti van Ganassi.

De eerste plaatsen werden allen verdeeld onder de Penske- en de Ganassi-coureurs. Achter Briscoe en Franchitti pakte Will Power (Penske) de derde plaats, gevolgd door Scott Dixon (Ganassi) en Helio Castroneves (Penske). Alex Lloyd reed een sterke kwalificatie en pakte de zesde startplaats, terwijl ook Hideki Mutoh het met zijn zevende plaats goed deed.

Danica Patrick was de eerste vrouwelijke coureur op de achtste stek. Takuma Sato zal de race vanaf de elfde plaats beginnen, terwijl de Belg Bertrand Baguette vanaf de 22e plaats zal vertrekken. Hiermee was Baguette nog altijd sneller dan teamgenoot Mario Romancini die de 25e tijd reed.
