Chip Ganassi opgenomen in de Hall of Fame

Teameigenaar Chip Ganassi was een van de zeven nieuwe namen die eind januari zijn opgenomen in de IndyCar Hall of Fame. De naamgever van Ganassi Racing verdiende deze erkenning voor zijn successen als teameigenaar. Sinds 1990 wonnen zijn coureurs honderd IndyCar-races, waaronder vier keer de Indy 500, en elf rijderstitels in de Amerikaanse klasse.

Ganassi: "Ik heb altijd van autosport gehouden en ik heb altijd alle mogelijke series gewaardeerd. Ik begon in de karting, sneeuwscooters, crossmotoren en all-terrain voertuigen. Ik heb altijd van alle vormen van auto- en motorsport genoten, en ik heb altijd veel waardering opgebracht voor de winnaars en kampioenen in alle vormen en maten."

"Of het nou om motorracen of de IndyCar of NASCAR of wat dan ook is, een kampioen is iemand die een grootse prestatie in een zware competitie heeft neergezet. Daarom heb ik daar altijd respect voor gehad. Geen enkele teameigenaar kan het in zijn eentje. Je hebt een team nodig en ik mag me gelukkig prijzen met de mensen die me al jaren omringen."
