Arie Luyendijk racesteward in de IndyCar

Oud-coureur Arie Luyendijk is door de IndyCar-organisatie aangesteld als een van de racestewards voor elke race in 2016. De Nederlander won de Indy 500 twee maal. Oud-coureur Max Papis en autosport-veteraan Dan Davis zullen ook een plekje in de wedstrijdleiding krijgen.

Jay Frye, competitieleider van de IndyCar: "Zodra we het proces om ons team van racestewards samen te stellen startten, gingen onze gedachten gelijk uit naar Arie, Max en Dan. We waren dan ook verguld dat zij meteen positief reageerden op onze toenadering."

"Ons streven was om een team te formeren met mensen met verschillende achtergronden die goed kunnen samenwerken om het niveau van de IndyCar Series naar een hoger plan te tillen. Dit is de juiste groep om dat te doen."
