Will Power verslaat Dixon in spannende kwalificatie Iowa

Will Power heeft voor Penske de pole position gepakt voor de race in Iowa. De Australiër was na vier rondjes kwalificeren slechts twee duizendsten sneller dan Scott Dixon van Ganassi Racing.

Dixon was in twee van de vier kwalificatierondjes sneller dan Power, maar moest de pole position uiteindelijk toch met een miniem verschil aan de Penske-coureur laten. Marco Andretti trok zijn goede lijn uit de trainingen door en pakte de derde startplaats, voor Helio Castroneves.

Dario Franchitti zal de race als vijfde aanvangen, gevolgd door de goed presterende Alex Tagliani. Ook Takuma Sato kende een erg sterke kwalificatie en pakte als snelste KV-coureur een mooie zevende positie. Ryan Briscoe, Danica Patrick en Dan Wheldon maakten de top-tien compleet. De Belg Bertrand Baguette start de race in Iowa als 22e, één plaats voor zijn teamgenoot.
