Leider Will Power opent beslissend weekend als snelste

Kampioenschapsleider Will Power heeft het beslissende weekend in de IndyCar Series als snelste geopend. De Australiër was tijdens de eerste training in Homestead een dikke honderdste sneller dan Scott Dixon. Titelrivaal Dario Franchitti reed de vierde tijd.

Will Power stond lange tijd tweede achter Scott Dixon, maar reed met een laatste snelle ronde alsnog naar de koppositie. Hiermee was het Dixon 0.0142 seconden te snel af, terwijl Ryan Briscoe de derde tijd reed. Powers titelrivaal Dario Franchitti, die 12 punten achterstaat bij het begin van dit laatste weekend in 2010, eindigde als vierde op 0.0413 seconden achterstand.

Dan Wheldon was 'best of the rest' met de zesde tijd, achter Penske's Helio Castroneves. Marco Andretti en Alex Tagliani volgden als zevende en achtste. Bertrand Baguette kwam niet verder dan de 23e tijd.
