Bertrand Baguette tekent bij Bobby Rahal voor Indy 500

Bertrand Baguette keert later dit jaar terug naar Amerika. De 25-jarige Belg heeft bij Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing een contract getekend voor de Indy 500. Daarbij zal hij teamgenoot worden van Jay Howard en racen in de #30 auto.

Baguette, World Series by Renault-kampioen van 2009, maakte vorig jaar indruk in zijn eerste seizoen IndyCar Series. Vanwege geldgebrek was hij echter niet in staat om een nieuw fulltime contract te tekenen voor 2011. Eind mei zal de Belg dus deelnemen aan de Indianapolis 500. "Dit is een erg mooie kans voor mij en het is leuk dat ik mag deelnemen aan de 100e editie van deze prachtige race. Rahal Letterman Racing heeft een rijke historie en met een team van dit kaliber ben ik er zeker van dat we mooie dingen kunnen laten zien", aldus Baguette.

Bobby Rahal voegde daaraan toe: "Wij kijken uit naar een spannende Indy 500-maand met jonge, hongerige coureurs die zichzelf op de kaart willen zetten. Bertrand heeft in zijn carriére al laten zien dat hij een winnaar is en hij verbetert zich elke keer opnieuw als hij in de auto zit."
