Scott Speed teamgenoot van Tung tijdens Indy 500

Scott Speed zal later deze maand zijn IndyCar-debuut maken, zo werd vandaag bekend. De Amerikaan, die in 2006 en 2007 in de Formule 1 reed voor Scuderia Toro Rosso, zal zich proberen te kwalificeren voor de Indianapolis 500 en racet de seizoensafsluiter in Las Vegas voor Dragon Racing.

Eerder deze week werd Ho-Pin Tung bevestigd door Dragon Racing en hij zal in samenwerking met Sam Schmidt Motorsports voor het team de Indy 500 rijden. Zijn teamgenoot wordt dus Scott Speed, die vorig jaar nog in de NASCAR actief was. "Om de kans te krijgen om in de Indy 500 te racen is echt een jongensdroom van me geweest", vertelde Speed. "Ik ben er trots op dat ik samen mag werken met Jay Penske en dat we samen gaan strijden om de grootste overwinning van het jaar en hopelijk kunnen we na afloop de magische melk drinken (deze krijgt de winnaar van de Indy 500, red.)."
