Ho-Pin Tung tweede tijdens Rookie Orientation Program

Ho-Pin Tung heeft gisteren tijdens het Rookie Orientation Program de tweede tijd gereden. Het ROP is een verplicht programma dat debutanten voor de Indy 500 moeten afronden en hierin slaagden zes van de zeven rookies. JR Hildebrand reed de snelste tijd.

Tung moest zijn auto delen met Scott Speed, maar was desondanks ruim sneller dan de voormalig Formule 1-coureur. Sterker nog, Tung stond lange tijd bovenaan de tijdenlijst, maar moest de koppositie uiteindelijk laten aan JR Hildebrand. Tung volgde op bijna twee tienden achterstand, gevolgd door James Hinchcliffe, Charlie Kimball, Scott Speed, Pipa Mann en James Jakes. Jakes moet alleen de laatste fase nog doorlopen na problemen met zijn brandstofpomp.

Morgen is de eerste vrije training voor de Indy 500.
