Indy 500-winnaar aangesteld als testcoureur voor 2012-prototype

Dan Wheldon en Bryan Herta Autosport nemen het officiële testprogramma voor het prototype van de IndyCar-wagen voor 2012 voor hun rekening. De Indy 500-winnaar zal in augustus en september een serie van tests op een nog onbekende reeks van circuits uitvoeren met het nieuwe chassis van Dallara.

Dan, Bryan en teameigenaar Steve Newey hebben een schat aan ervaring met ontwikkelings- en testprogramma's, dus we zijn er zeker van dat onze prototypes in de beste handen zijn voor de afronding van het chassis-gedeelte. Deze verificatie verstevigt onze toewijding om te zorgen dat de auto voor 2012 aan alle eisen van de coureurs, teams en fans voldoet, aldus Tony Cotman, project manager van de bolide voor volgend jaar.

Wheldon: Uiteraard ben ik blij om mijn werkzaamheden met het team waarmee ik de Indy 500 won te vervolgen. Deze taak gaan we serieus en professioneel aanpakken. Het is van belang voor de groei van de serie dat het testen leidt tot een beter product voor 2012. Dat ik niet kan racen is vanzelfsprekend teleurstellend, maar de kennis die ik bij deze tests opdoe brengt me wel in een uitstekende uitgangspositie voor de toekomst.
