Mike Conway snelst in derde training ondanks crash

Mike Conway heeft zojuist de afsluitende vrije training in Toronto als snelste beëindigd. De Britse coureur was bijna zes honderdsten sneller dan Scott Dixon, gevolgd door Helio Castroneves op de derde positie. Conway maakte eerder in de sessie nog een crash mee.

Vrij vroeg in de training, toen Conway al aan kop van de tijdenlijst stond, gleed hij in Turn 8 de muur in. Na enkele reparaties in de pitbox kon hij zijn weg echter weer vervolgen en behield zijn snelheid vast. Uiteindelijk was zijn 1:00.047 ruim een halve tiende sneller dan de beste tijd van Scott Dixon.

Helio Castroneves was de snelste Penske-coureur met de derde tijd, gevolgd door Tony Kanaan in de KV-bolide. Justin Wilson, die eerder in de sessie nog kort aan kop stond, eindigde uiteindelijk als vijfde, gevolgd door Ryan Hunter-Reay. Will Power kwam niet verder dan de dertiende tijd.
