Dan Wheldon in Kentucky aan de start in plaats van Alex Tagliani

Dan Wheldon komt komend weekend in actie in de IndyCar-race op de Kentucky Speedway. De wedstrijd geldt als voorbereiding op de seizoensfinale in Las Vegas, waar de Indy 500-winnaar achteraan zal starten voor een speciale actie.

Als Wheldon in Las Vegas vanaf de laatste startplek de race weet te winnen, verdient hij 2,5 miljoen dollar. Een van de toeschouwers wint dan hetzelfde bedrag. In Kentucky kan hij alvast warm draaien, in de auto van Alex Tagliani bij Sam Schmidt Motorsports.

Wheldon: Ik kan Alex niet genoeg bedanken dat hij zijn plek aan mij afstaat voor Kentucky en bijdraagt aan de voorbereidingen voor Las Vegas. Ik heb zin om weer met het team te werken. Sam's mannen speelden in mei een grote rol bij mijn zege in de Indy 500 en ik wil weer winnen.
