Seizoensfinale Las Vegas stilgelegd na hevige massacrash

De laatste race van het IndyCar-seizoen zal de boeken ingaan als een speciale race. Na twaalf ronden werd de rode vlag uitgehangen na een crash waarbij maar liefst dertien auto's betrokken waren.

Sebastian Saavedra tikte James Hinchcliffe aan in de eerste bocht en spinde daarna in Turn 2. Onder andere titelkandidaat Will Power kon geen kant meer op en vloog door de lucht in zijn Penske-bolide. Nog meer auto's vatte kort vlam bij de crash.

Dan Wheldon leek de meeste schade overgehouden te hebben aan de crash waardoor marshalls veel werk hadden bij de auto van de Sam Schmidt-rijder.

Momenteel hangt de rode vlag nog altijd uit. F1Today.nl houd u op de hoogte.

Update 23:07 uur: Dan Wheldon is per helicopter naar het ziekenhuis vervoerd is Las Vegas. Preciese informatie over zijn toestand ontbreekt nog.
