IndyCar Series breidt uit met eerste race in China

Volgens seizoen staat de allereerste IndyCar-race ooit in China op het programma. IndyCar-baas Randy Bernard bevestigde dit bericht en vertelde dat er op 19 augustus in Qingdao op een stratencircuit gereden gaat worden.

"Nu de wereldwijde economie herstellende is en weer gaat groeien, is China naast Amerika de hoogste prioriteit geworden voor sponsors in de IndyCar Series", vertelde Bernard. "We zijn de Chinese overheid, de stad Qingdao en andere bureau's erg dankbaar voor hun steun aan deze race. We zijn vastbesloten om er een prachtige race van te maken."

De IndyCar Series komt niet voor het eerst naar Azië. Alle voorgaande races in dat continent werden verreden in Japan. Dat land heeft na dit seizoen echter geen plaats meer op de kalender.
