Jean Alesi genoemd bij HVM voor debuut in Indy 500

Jean Alesi gaat mogelijk voor HVM deelnemen aan de Indianapolis 500 volgend seizoen. De Franse coureur sprak enkele maanden geleden al zijn intenties uit om komend jaar deel te nemen aan de meest prestigieuze race in de Amerikaanse racerij.

Nu HVM een contract heeft getekend met Lotus over de levering van motoren vanaf 2012, is Alesi duidelijker in beeld gekomen. De éénmalig racewinnaar in de Formule 1 is namelijk ambassadeur van Lotus en zou al gesprekken hebben gehad met HVM. Dat team heeft Simona de Silvestro al onder contract staan, maar bespreekt de mogelijkheid van het inzetten van een tweede bolide.

"Die optie is inderdaad besproken, maar de beslissing moet uiteindelijk door Lotus worden gemaakt", vertelde HVM-eigenaar Keith Wiggins. "Daarnaast zal het waarschijnlijk alleen voor de Indy 500 zijn. We hebben Simona tot en met 2013 onder contract staan, maar praten ook met andere coureurs en er moeten natuurlijk voldoende financiële middelen zijn."
