Simon Pagenaud racet in 2012 volledig seizoen voor Sam Schmidt

Simon Pagenaud zal volgend jaar weer een volledig seizoen rijden in de IndyCar Series. Sam Schmidt Motorsports maakte vandaag de komst van de Franse coureur bekend tijdens een persconferentie in Indianapolis.

Pagenaud won in 2006 de Formule Atlantic-titel en maakte indruk tijdens het ChampCar-seizoen van 2007. Daarna verdween de Fransman drie jaar van de Amerikaanse radar, totdat hij dit jaar zijn debuut maakte in de IndyCar Series. Pagenaud reed in 2011 drie races voor HVM en Dreyer & Reinbold.

"Deze raceklasse zorgt tegenwoordig voor de meest spannende races en ik kijk er erg naar uit om weer in een single-seater te gaan rijden. Ik wil Sam Schmidt Motorsports bedanken dat ze me deze kans bieden. Het is erg speciaal dat ik nu een droom van me kan waarmaken door in de IndyCar Series te rijden en tijdens de Indy 500 in actie te komen", aldus Pagenaud.
