IndyCar keert in 2012 niet terug naar onheilsplek Las Vegas

De IndyCar Series heeft een race op de Las Vegas Motor Speedway voor volgend seizoen uit het hoofd gezet. Bij een massacrash bij de wedstrijd op de oval van dit jaar kwam Dan Wheldon om het leven. De IndyCar gaat nu eerst uitvoerig testen op het circuit om te kijken naar verbeterpunten voor de veiligheid.

De volledige kalender voor 2012 laat nog op zich wachten. IndyCar-baas Randy Bernard: We zijn van mening dat we ons technische team voldoende tijd moeten geven om grondig te testen op de Las Vegas Motor Speedway, zodra we het onderzoek naar het ongeluk met vijftien auto's bij de race van 16 oktober jongstleden hebben afgerond.
