Takuma Sato optimistisch over IndyCar-contract voor 2012

Takuma Sato durft geen voorschot te nemen op een racestoeltje voor 2012, maar de Japanner is na een succesvolle test voor Honda op het circuit van Sebring wel hoopvol. Hij zou in beeld zijn bij Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, maar laat niets los over geruchten.

Sato zegt op SpeedTV.com: Totdat alles geregeld is, is het moeilijk iets te zeggen over waar ik zal racen volgend jaar. Ik was vereerd met de oproep voor de fabrikantentest met Honda en het was een waardevolle sessie. Het was hectisch, maar alles dat we doen is ter voorbereiding op volgend jaar. Het ziet er zeer positief voor me uit en ik ben optimistisch dat ik binnenkort met een grote glimlach rond kan lopen.

Sato verdedigde dit jaar de eer van KV Racing, maar dat team stapte over op Chevrolet-krachtbronnen. De Japanner stond in 2011 twee maal op pole position en sleepte een vierde plek als beste finish in de wacht. In de stand eindigde hij als dertiende.
