Dragon Racing klaagt motorleverancier Lotus aan

Het team van Dragon Racing heeft een aanklacht tegen Lotus ingediend. De renstal verlangt 4,6 miljoen dollar van de autoproducent vanwege het niet nakomen van contractuele verplichtingen. Dragon Racing heeft al het materiaal bij Lotus ingeleverd en is op zoek naar een nieuwe motorleverancier voor Sebastien Bourdais en Katherine Legge.

Dragon Racing claimt dat Lotus nagelaten heeft om het team van twee gratis chassis' te voorzien, wat wel overeen gekomen was. Ook stelde Lotus de levering van motoren uit totdat Dragon Racing extra had betaald, terwijl Lotus al een schuld bij de renstal had opgebouwd. Dragon beschuldigt Lotus bovendien van het verspreiden van leugens om de eigen tekortkomingen goed te praten en het team neemt het de motorleverancier kwalijk dat het niets verteld heeft over de reorganisatie die binnen het bedrijf gaande was.

Lotus raakte eerder al klanten Dreyer & Reinbold Racing en Bryan Herta Autosport kwijt omdat het afspraken niet nakwam. Alleen de HVM van Simona de Silvestro wordt nog aangedreven door een Lotus-krachtbron.
