Sebastian Saavedra snelste op tweede dag in Indianapolis

Sebastian Saavedra heeft zojuist de tweede vrije training voor de Indianapolis 500 als snelste coureur afgesloten. De Colombiaanse coureur eindigde de dag met ruim zes honderdsten voorsprong op zowel Bryan Clauson als Josef Newgarden.

Vandaag werden er door de coureurs meer ronden gereden dan gisteren het geval was. Zo was Wade Cunningham het productiefste met 58 ronden over de 'Brickyard'. Een snelle tijd leverde hem dat echter niet op, Cunningham moest het doen met de 24e tijd. De snelste tijden werden gereden door Sebastian Saavedra. De Colombiaanse rijder was Bryan Clauson, die zaterdag als derde eindigde, 0.0650 seconden te snel af. De snelste coureur uit de eerste training, Josef Newgarden, zat er opnieuw goed bij met de derde tijd.

Scott Dixon was de eerste écht grote naam op de vierde positie, gevolgd door Justin Wilson en Ryan Hunter-Reay. De Amerikaan kwam al twee tienden tekort op de tijd van Saavedra. James Jakes, James Hinchcliffe en Charlie Kimball completeerden de top tien. Rubens Barrichello reed in de tweede training naar de 26e tijd met een achterstand van 1,1211 seconden op Saavedra, terwijl Jean Alesi op de 32e positie ruim 3,2 seconden toe moest geven.
