IndyCar-teams proberen baas Randy Bernard weg te pesten

Teameigenaren in de IndyCar ondernemen pogingen om IndyCar-baas Randy Bernard uit zijn functie te laten ontheffen. Dat gaf Bernard via Twitter toe. "Het klopt dat een teameigenaar collega's belt om mijn ontslag te bewerkstelligen. Dat hebben meerdere teameigenaren aan mij bevestigd. Teleurstellend."

Hij specificeert niet om welke teams het gaat, maar Roger Penske van Penske Racing hoort er in elk geval niet bij. Michael Andretti van Andretti Autosport ontkent ook betrokkenheid. De onvrede van de rebellerende teams zou zich toespitsen op de strijd over de gelijkheid van de nieuwe turbo-motoren en de uit de hand gelopen kosten van het nieuwe Dallara-chassis. Bernard toont zich tegenover Autosport strijdvaardig: "Ik ben vol vertrouwen dat we alles op kunnen lossen."
