IndyCar-ronde in Chinese stad Qingdao afgeblazen

De IndyCar-stratenrace in de Chinese havenstad Qingdao die gepland stond voor 19 augustus gaat niet door. Complicaties met officials van de organisatie liggen ten grondslag aan de afgelasting. De IndyCar-leiding zoekt nog naar een alternatieve ronde voor dit jaar en China blijft een optie voor de kalender voor volgend seizoen.

IndyCar-baas Randy Bernard: "We wilden China alle mogelijkheden bieden om succesvol te zijn, maar wij zijn op de hoogte gesteld door de promotor dat de race is afgeblazen. We zijn geïnformeerd dat de organisatie geprobeerd heeft om een andere datum en andere locatie voor het evenement te vinden, maar dat is niet gelukt. De knoop moest doorgehakt worden om de IndyCar en de deelnemers in staat te stellen om plannen te maken voor de tweede seizoenshelft. We werken met onze promotors en partners om te kijken welke invloed een potentiële nieuwe race voor ons schema heeft."
