IndyCar beslist tot herinvoering push-to-pass vanaf Toronto

De push-to-pass knop maakt vanaf het raceweekend in Toronto weer zijn opwachting in de IndyCar. Het hulpmiddel om inhalen makkelijker te maken was een tijdje uit beeld, maar de organisatie van de Amerikaanse raceklasse heeft besloten om het voor de resterende vijf gewone en stratencircuits weer in te voeren.

Will Phillips, technisch directeur bij de IndyCar: "Het systeem is vergelijkbaar met dat wat we een aantal jaar geleden introduceerden, want we weten dat het werkt.: Hoeveel extra boost beschikbaar is en hoeveel tijd de knop ingedrukt kan worden bepaalt de wedstrijdleiding en het zal variëren per circuit. De teams zullen het systeem in de trainingen in Toronto eerst uitvoerig testen.
