Detroit wijzigt lay-out voor meer inhaalmogelijkheden in 2013

De organisatie van de IndyCar-race op Belle Isle in Detroit heeft besloten om de lay-out van de baan iets aan te passen. De route richting bocht 3 wordt met een paar honderd meter verlengd in een poging om meer inhaalmogelijkheden te creëren.

Coureur Sebastien Bourdais nam een kijkje bij de werkzaamheden op Belle Isle. "Hierdoor verandert het in een waardig racecircuit met meer opties om iemand te passeren. Dat is goed nieuws. Organisator Bud Denker speelt met meer ideeën om inhalen te bevorderen."

Detroit neemt tevens het wegdek op Belle Isle onder handen. De race van dit jaar eindigde voortijdig door los latende stukken circuit. Een verse asfaltlaag moet die problemen verhelpen voor de twee wedstrijden in het weekend van 1 en 2 juni 2013.
