Hinchcliffe boekt allereerste zege in St Petersburg

James Hinchcliffe heeft zijn eerste overwinning in de IndyCar behaald. De Canadees van Andretti Autosport zegevierde bij de opening van 2013 in St Petersburg door zuinig met zijn brandstof om te gaan. Uiteindelijk hield hij een seconde over op Helio Castroneves.

Het laatste plekje op het podium ging naar Marco Andretti. Titelhouder Ryan Hunter-Reay startte stroef met problemen bij een pitstop en een klassering in de achterhoede. Kampioenskandidaat Will Power oogstte ook weinig punten na een aanrijding met JR Hildebrand.
