Pippa Mann doet dit jaar een poging om zich voor de tweede maal in haar loopbaan te kwalificeren voor de Indy 500. De 29-jarige Britse zal een door Honda aangedreven auto van Dale Coyne Racing besturen als teamgenoot van Justin Wilson en Ana Beatriz. Mann reed de 500 mijls-race in 2011 uit op een twintigste plek.

"Het doet me deugd om dit nieuws met de wereld te delen", begint Mann. "Ik ontmoette Dale Coyne jaren geleden voor het eerst bij de laatste test van de Champ Car op Sebring, vlak voor de fusie met de IRL. Sindsdien hebben we contact gehouden en we waren vorig jaar al dicht bij een samenwerking voor Bump Day bij de Indy 500. Twaalf maanden later is het wel gelukt om een programma samen te stellen en ik kan niet wachten om de Indianapolis Motor Speedway weer te betreden."
