Podium Pocono voor Ganassi met Dixon, Kimball en Franchitti

De IndyCar-race op de Pocono Raceway is ten prooi gevallen aan Scott Dixon. De Nieuw-Zeelander versloeg teamgenoten Charlie Kimball en Dario Franchitti voor een geheel Ganassi-podium. Het betrof de eerste zege van Dixon in 2013.

James Hinchcliffe schakelde zichzelf al in de eerste bocht uit door de muur in te glijden. Ryan Hunter-Reay werd bij een pitstop aangereden door Takuma Sato. Hij verloor kostbare punten in de strijd om de titel ten opzichte van Helio Castroneves, die als achtste finishte.

Tony Kanaan reed zijn voorvleugel stuk bij een inhaalactie op Dixon in bocht 1. En Marco Andretti moest in zijn laatste stint brandstof sparen om het einde te halen. Dat maakte de weg vrij voor de rijders van Ganassi. Will Power was beste van de rest, voor Josef Newgarden.
