Prema Powerteam haalt Sebastian Montoya binnen voor Italiaans Formule 4

Vader Juan Pablo kondigde het vorige week al aan en nu is het ook definitief: Sebastian Montoya debuteert komend seizoen in het Italiaanse Formule 4. Het Colombiaanse talent komt daarbij uit voor Prema Powerteam.

Voor Montoya bekent de overstap naar het Italiaanse Formule 4 zijn debuut in de single-seaters. De zoon van tweevoudig Indy 500-winnaar en zevenvoudig Grand Prix-winnaar Juan Pablo Montoya begon in 2013 met karten. Destijds was hij 8 jaar oud. Komend seizoen volgt de overstap naar de autosport, waar hij naast een seizoen in het Italiaanse Formule 4 ook een aantal races zal rijden in het Duitse kampioenschap.

"Ik kijk er erg naar uit om in de autosport te beginnen en de kans te hebben om in 2020 met zo'n geweldig team in de F4 te racen", zei Montoya. "Prema is een topteam en heeft alle uitrusting en de mensen om mij te helpen met leren en groeien als coureur. De tegenstand zal groot zijn, maar dat is ook goed. Het zorgt ervoor dat ik mezelf op én naast het circuit uitdaag."

Montoya maakte indruk tijdens eerste tests

In het persbericht verklaart Prema dat Montoya de nodige indruk maakte op het team tijdens zijn eerste testruns. Hij paste zich snel bijvoorbeeld snel aan aan de bolide. Teambaas Angelo Rosin had het volgende te zeggen over het jonge talent: "We zijn erg blij dat we Sebastian in het team mogen verwelkomen."

"Hij is een geweldige toevoeging aan onze line-up en ondergaat al een positieve transitie richting de single-seaters. Voor hem zal dit een leerjaar worden, maar met wat we tot nu toe gezien hebben, kan hij op korte termijn al meedoen in de voorste gelederen. We kunnen niet wachten om met het seizoen te beginnen. We kijken er heel erg naar uit om met zoveel getalenteerde jonge coureurs te werken."

  Wat Beri vast probeert te zeggen is dat Max dan de komende jaren dik vet de dienst gaat uitmaken en dan over een paar jaar komt er een opvliegend mannetje in de F1 die dan Max lastig gaat vallen net zoals JP dat ooit deed bij Schumacher....zoiets?
