Kunimoto wint tweede race Okoyama, Vandoorne zevende

Yuji Kunimoto heeft de tweede race in de Super Formula op het circuit van Okoyama gewonnen. Een vroege pitstop vormde de basis voor de zege van de Japanner. Stoffel Vandoorne, winnaar van de eerste race op Okoyama, finishte op een zevende plaats.

Veel coureurs kozen ervoor om de verplichte stop al in de openingsronden te maken, dit bleek uiteindelijk de beste strategie. Kunimoto plande zijn stop het beste. Stoffel Vandoorne hoopte door wat langer door te rijden naar voren te kunnen komen, maar in plaats van naar voren te komen verloor de Belg tijd en eindigde uiteindelijk als zevende.

Bij de start was pole sitter Tomoki Nojiri als beste weg. Hiroaki Isiura pakte de tweede plaats. Vandoorne verloor een plek bij de start. Vooraan sloeg de top vier een gaatje, mede omdat Vandoorne moest verdedigen ten opzichte van James Rossiter. Na de stops bleek dat Kunimoto de beste papieren had. De leider in het kampioenschap reed al voor het helft van de race op een virtuele eerste plaats. Nadat iedereen zijn stop had bestond de top drie uit Kunimoto, Nojiri en Kazuki Nakajima. Vandoorne viel na zijn stop terug tot een negende plaats, net achter Narain Karthikeyan. Vandoorne kreeg een plaats cadeau toen Karthikeyan de controle verloor en stil stond op het circuit.

Het stilvallen van Karthikeyan leidde tot een Safety Car en dit gaf Isiura de mogelijkheid greept zijn stop te maken. Het duurde vrij lang voordat de auto van Karthikeyan geborgen was werd de race met nog zestien ronden te gaan weer vrijgegeven.

Bij de herstart drong Ishiura meteen aan bij de nummer drie, Nojiri. Veel hoefde Ishiuara niet te doen om de derde plek te pakken, Nojiri viel in de slotfase namelijk ver terug. De strijd om het podium was daarmee ook meteen afgelopen. Kunimoto had een kleine voorsprong en kon zonder problemen naar de zege rijden.

De volgende race in de Super Formula is op het circuit van Sugo. Op dit circuit wordt slechts een race verreden. De seizoensfinale is over zes weken op het circuit van Suzuka.

Wie kan mij uitleggen waarom Van doornemen zo'n mega groot talent is? Ik weet dat hij vorig jaar kampioen is geworden nu ergens in de Super Formule rond rijd, dit jaar valt het volgens mij best tegen. Hij heeft niet de beste auto dat heb ik gelezen maar wie o wie kan mij vertellen wat we volgend jaar kunnen gaan verwachten van hem en waarom? Gewoon nieuwsgierig meer niet.

  De GP2 heeft hij met enorme overmacht gewonnen in zijn tweede jaar (records zijn gesneuveld). Zijn rookie jaar in de GP2 was bijna net zo indrukwekkend. In alle feeder series heeft hij laten zien uitzonderlijk veel talent en potentie te hebben.
  In zijn F1 debuut in Bahrein reed hij heel sterk. Haalde de eerste punt voor McLaren binnen van het seizoen.
  In de Super Formula heeft hij inderdaad niet de allerbeste auto (Toyota > Honda motoren), maar weet toch ondanks veel pech goede resultaten te zetten.
  
  Met megatalenten als Verstappen, Ocon, Wehrlein en Vandoorne die nu allemaal een zitje hebben binnen de Formule 1 kunnen we zeker de komende jaren gaan smullen.

kijk naar afgelopen jaar zijn debut in de f1 bahrein .
en naar zijn verleden dan snap je het wel .
hij zal het wk niet winnen maar dat mag je ook niet verwachten .

Vandoorne heeft 3 gridplaatsen penalty gekregen aan de start door iets dat is foutgelopen tijdens de qualy in de pitstraat, een of ander technisch probleem naar ik begrepen heb. Daardoor vanaf p6 moeten starten en twee plaatsen teruggenomen bij de start. Zoals alle koplopers de verkeerde pitstop strategie en in het verkeer terecht gekomen na de pitstop. Race over.

Ach het zal wel... Resultaten uit het verleden etc etc etc.... Ben wel benieuwd,, maar er is een trend gaande dat elke nieuwe coureur als een soort wereldwonder gepresenteerd wordt... tja...
