Audi eist eerste twee plekken op in Austin

Audi heeft de winst gegrepen in de 6 uur van het Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Marcel Fässler, Andre Lotterer en Benoit Treluyer kwamen na 157 rondjes als eersten over de meet. Lucas di Grassi, Tom Kristensen en Loïc Duval eindigden op minder dan een minuut als tweede.

Anthony Davidson, Nicolas Lapierre en Sebastien Buemi in de Toyota completeerden het podium in de LMP1-klasse. Zij waren ook van pole position gestart, maar een hoosbui na ongeveer anderhalf uur zorgde voor een rode vlag en zoveel chaos dat Toyota de regie kwijt raakte.

Porsche was in de kwalificatie nog sneller dan Audi, maar moest nu genoegen nemen met de vierde en vijfde positie. In de LM GTE Pro-klasse ging de winst naar de Aston Martin met startnummer 97, bemand door Darren Turner en Stefan Mücke.
