Frijns krijgt Hypercar-zitje bij BMW

Aankomend seizoen kan nog wel eens mooi gaan uitpakken voor de Nederlandse autosportfans. In de Hypercar-klasse van het World Endurance Championship kunnen meerdere Nederlanders gaan jagen op succes. Het team van BMW heeft namelijk Robin Frijns bevestigd voor het aanstaande seizoen. Hij neemt het op tegen Nyck de Vries die voor Toyota rijdt.

Het was al eventjes duidelijk dat Frijns zou gaan werken voor het Hypercar-team, maar wat zijn rol precies zou zijn was nog niet duidelijk. BMW heeft vandaag de line-ups bekend gemaakt voor de wagens die ze samen met Team WRT inzetten in de Hypercar-klasse. Frijns zal de auto met startnummer 20 gaan delen met Sheldon van der Linde en René Rast. De auto met startnummer 15 zal worden bestuurd door Dries Vanthoor, Raffaele Marciello en Marco Wittmann. De Hypercar van BMW debuteert dit jaar in het WEC, vorig jaar reed de auto al wel in het IMSA-kampioenschap.
